Welcome you to the most advanced payroll system in the world. There are a few items we will need in order to begin processing your account, so we have provided this handy checklist to assist.
940
The 940 form is used to report your annual Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) tax.
941
The 941 is your federal report that goes to the IRS. It shows the amount of taxes withheld by the employer, such as income taxes, social security, and Medicare. See a Sample
944
This form is designed so the smallest employers (those whose annual liability for social security, Medicare, and withheld federal income taxes is $1,000 or less) will file and pay these taxes only once a year instead of every quarter.
W2
The W-2 (known as a Wage and Tax Statement) is the form that each employee receives at the end of each calendar year. The employer must send a copy to both employees and the IRS. The W-2 details out how much an employee was paid in both gross and net amounts, as well as all taxes withheld. See a Sample
W3
The W-3 (known as a Transmittal of Income and Tax Statement) is a payroll tax IRS form. Every employer must file with the Social Security Administration (SSA) along with a “Copy A” of each W-2. A W-3 is a summary of all individual W-2 forms your company submits to the Federal government. It summarizes to the IRS the number of people you employ at your business and the accuracy of your W-2s. Form W-3 also details a reconciliation of the quarterly tax payments made throughout the year on Form “941” for your business. The W-3 must be signed by the employer and submitted to the IRS by the last day in February or by the last day in March if you are filing electronically. See a Sample
W4
Complete Form W-4 so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. Consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or financial situation changes.
